every day i wake up, and i try, and i strive, to be this
SUPER HAPPY GIRL
you'll never know me
but you may know my name

carrie yeo.
Is a walking contradiction.

Happy-go-lucky yet emotional.
Over-confident yet suffers from inferiority complex.
Love to sing yet afraid of the stage.
Always hopeful about the future but always living in the present.
Adventurous in bigger life experiences like joining Project Superstar but very cowardly in trivial thrills like monkey bars.

Always fighting with herself in the mind like there are 5 Carrie's in there.

Blogging is a way to straighten out thoughts for her.
Blogging is a way for her to leave clues for herself,
so that in ten years time,
Carrie might start to understand herself better....

driving frees my mind
and so i tweet.

over coffee, we agree...
to disagree.

but there's always help
when you are looking.

Rambling.. (Thursday, June 5, 2008 / 12:12 PM)

You must have heard of the phrase "Ignorance is bliss"?

I don't agree.

You know the thing about being an adult is.... ignorance is no longer a bliss. Ignorance is a sin. As a child, our parents act as our shield. We do not know how much the electricity bills cost. We do not know the politics in offices and the stress of working life. We do not know that there are evil people in this world. We lived in lala land and in total bliss. Well, yah, exams were tough. But seriously, is it even half as tough as the real world?

Ok so real world is tough, but why is Ignorance a sin?

Responsibility - that is the expectation of being an adult, isn't it? You are officially a mature adult when you know, understand and carry out your responsibilities. When you are a kid, you are usually forgiven of your mistakes. But when you are an adult, you are expected to do the right thing. And in order to do the right things, you need to KNOW things. You need to KNOW what are your responsibilities, your roles and your tasks in life. If you refuse to grow up, refuse to KNOW what is expected of you, then you might become a burden to people around you.

Say, for example, a father loses his job. His 8 yr old child will know nothing about it. The 8 yr old can continue playing with his lego like nothing has happened. We look at the kid and say "sigh, ignorance is bliss". He does not know, hence he does not feel the pain. But the mother on the other hand, is an adult. If father does not tell mother, mother suspects but wants to avoid the problem, then do you think that mother is in the wrong? By not knowing, mother becomes a burden to father. If she knew, she could then be a help. Simple equation.

There's such a huge difference between a child and an adult.

I wanna be a child!!!! But there's no escaping..... We all have to grow up.

(PS: this post is really random. No special meaning. I just can't sleep and so I just let my thoughts ramble on...)
