Thank you for your enthusiastic response.
Due to the overwhelming popularity of Yang Jia Ying, I'll have to stick with it lo~ hahaha!
So, yeah, I'm still Carrie, Jiaying then!
A lot has happened in the past few weeks. In terms of my career. Singing career.
You know, after joining Mediacorp, I always thought in this industry, LUCK plays the most important part. Like being casted in Shouzu was due to my luck, 天时地利人和. Just nice when this other actress (the original wenya) was negotiating contract problem, I went for interview / audition and the casting person saw me and thought I suit the role Wenya. If my interview was 2 weeks earlier or later, I might not have gotten the role. If the casting person was on MC or forgot about this role, I might not have gotten the role and might not have been signed as a Mediacorp artiste, might not have been having so much fun in Mediacorp.
Same for other roles in Mediacorp, I think any role could be acted by any actor or actress. So the most important thing in this industry is... LUCK. I mean of course hard work is very important. But when it comes to opportunity, it's... luck.
But this recent few weeks taught me something else.
Ok, big news.... I'm leaving Mediacorp at the end of this month. Tadah~ surprised? Well, I'm not. I'm a singer. Acting was fun. Hosting was fun. But I am not getting any younger and singing is still my passion. I thought I should not waste any more time and I should FOCUS on singing. When it comes to a singing career, unfortunately, Mediacorp can't really help me and is not the place to breed singers. So i'm leaving.....
I'm leaving a comfort zone that I've formed for myself for the past 1 yr plus. I get a stable income, I din need to go LOOK for other opportunity in terms of singing and stuff. Coz I have a job mah. Even when I decided that I won't continue my contract with Mediacorp at the beginning of the year, I was still comfortable and lazy to go find opportunity. I thought opportunity will presents itself. Finally, when July approached, I panicked. Coz i'm leaving my comfort zone in a months time and I have to fend for myself. HOW????
So I started planning for a singing career. I started jio-ing people out for coffee. I started asking questions, even embarassing questions that I din think I could get out of my mouth. I started jamming with 2 bands, preparing to sing gigs after July. I started to know more music industry people. I started chasing my dream!!!!
When you start taking initiative, take those tiny steps towards your dream, things start to happen.
So.... hehe... something exciting is gonna happen in August. Not the same exciting thing that I mention the last time. Something that involves singing. Woo!
Lesson learnt. It's not all luck at play. If you want to fulfil your dream, you have to go LOOK for opportunity. If you don't, opportunity won't know where to find you.....

What do you think about me changing my name?I realise that a lot of pple find it hard to remember my chinese name. Most people rem me by Carrie. Is it because Carrie is easier, so people don't rem my chinese name? Or because my chinese name is simply hard to rem? You know, that day I was talking to Ivy (933 DJ). After knowing her for like so long (!!!), she still doesnt know my chinese name! I think it's important for artiste to have easy-to-rem names. Like Diya! haha! That's why most artiste will change their names. Did you know that 言承旭,刘德华,etc are not their real name? Like Brad Pitt is not his real name too! I'm really tempted to change my name too. Change it to something more.... glam! ahahahha! Something more... starry starry u know? So that day, I went to see a 命理师傅. I'm not very superstitious, but since I'm wanna get an opinion on changing my name, I might as well get it "calculated" right? He gave me 6 names but the only one i like is....
*drum roll*
杨若盈!What do you think?
ps: pls reply in comment box k? dun b lazy ah~

Bball in Batu Pahat (Thursday, July 3, 2008 / 3:21 AM)
Finally found time, and energy to blog about Basketball in Batu Pahat! It was DAMN FUN! We went in a coach of almost 40 people. Including the "新传媒明星队" and the cheerleading squad we brought along with us. =) We went to Batu Pahat to play against the "Malaysia明星队". It was a charity event. So all entrance ticket sales went to Si Chuan to help the victims there.
The "新传媒明星队" was such a great group of people. Everyone was so determined to have fun on that trip. It did not matter to us that there are 2 National Team player on the other team. It did not matter that we were all super amateur in Basketball. During the only practice session that we had on that afternoon itself, we sucked man. Haha. We were not getting the balls into the hoops. But we laughed at each other and tell each other "never mind, it'll come back to you" hahaha! Morale was good siah. We were not out to win a game. We were there to put up a good fight and to have fun.
And we did! We... erm... obviously lost. =P the malaysian team was strong siah. But we had fun.
Tay Ping Hui said "we seem to be playing soccer." Means we have very little "goals". But we celebrate every goal. hahahahhaha! Not like the Malaysian team 进球都不出奇. HAHAHAH! But once we score, we run around and high five each other!!! It was damn high!
Picture speaks a thousand words, so here are the thousand words~ hehe.

The moment we got there, we had lunch and took LOTS of pictures!

The fans in Batu Pahat was so 热情. Tay Ping Hui and Christopher Lee were sooooo mobbed! haha!

Here's our captain - Brandon wong. He's a really good organiser and captain! Very Organized and really good at keeping the morale high siah.

And Gurmit Singh was SUCH A JOKER!!! He can think up all sorts of jokes, even with just a simple mic like the one in the picture.

Here's the whole Singapore Team. COOL HUH! There were a lot of ex mediacorp artiste as well. So glad to have met them. They are REALLY funny people!!! Like 郑文. He will bunny hop around when he misses a shot. haha!

The sideline. It was intense man... Very 刺激 game.

Can you see our team chiong-ing??? hah. Think the one in the middle is Chris Lee. He was SOOOO LI HAI!!!!

2nd quarter was a female vs female game. We were terrified lo!!! There were 5 of us, 洪慧芳,许雅慧,洪乙心,迪雅和我。AT the start of our quarter, we actually really 抱着一起“哭”hahahah!!!! out of fear! hahaha.. the guys keep comforting us, telling us to just relax and enjoy the game. but I think we did well! I scored a 2 point and Diya scored a 3 point!!!!

Wenlong da ge is like our hope that night! Did you know that he was Johor State player? WOO~

Hehe, we got no 实力 so must have 形象 la! Diya and I bought a pair of basketball shoes in Batu Pahat. There were quite cheap leh! We told ourselves, after buying shoes, we must play more! But er..... never happened. =P Well actually me la. Diya sometimes go and shoot hoops. heh.
