这个星期我是忙到～～～

很多人很好奇，一位全职歌手，每天是做什么的huh？每次人家问到我，我都不知道该怎么回答。
那天突然有个灵感。让我来给大家解释一下。

Ok。一位歌手就像一个product。

一个产品需要 product development. Like a beauty product, say, moisturizer. You have to do constant research & development to develop a good moisturizing product right? In our case, we have to train ourselves in singing. We try out many kinds of songs, try to find the style that we are good at... Well, best at. Exercising and keeping fit are important things to do too. Although... I'm LAZY! For me, I would love to have my thoughts in my songs as well. So I have been pretty hardworking at trying to come out with lyrics.

We also do "Market Research". haha! We check out new CDs constantly, update on what is new and "trendy". Oh my current playlist includes 梁文音 (ok, not that new but I like) and 张惠妹.

"Product marketing" means keeping ourselves in public eye, or you can call it exposure. It could be interview with the papers, or, it could even be as simple as blogging. ;)

Oh, there are soooo much to do!

What you see is a small part of what we do. Ok, I gotta go... and get busy.

Yup, I joined 星光5 PK战!!!!

It was really a struggle for me. To join or not to join.

I'm just so tired and scared of the feeling of a competition. You know, the nerve breaking moment before going on stage, the nerve breaking and heart exploding moment before the result? aiyoh, those moment are unbearable. But in the end, I still joined la. I also don't know why in the end I went. I guess I just wanted to give myself a chance? I also don't know what kind of chances 星光5 can bring me. I mean after all, this is already the 5th season of the competition. And we are only going to appear for PK only. Owell.... 不要想太多！！！

So, I went. And I actually HAD FUN! Because I forced myself NOT to think too much! I was distracting myself by talking to other people, listening to other songs, praying, praying a lot to clear my mind, etc. And it was great. It was a lot of fun to sing. I mean I just LOVE singing. So when I just focus on the fun of singing. I forget that I'm on a stage and that I'm in a competition.

I went up there and I sang my heart out.

And so I got in to the 2nd round.

The 2nd round was easier because I already adjusted my 心情. So I went up there and I just sang like I did in the 1st round. Just enjoying myself. Wow!! They didn't stop me. All the other contestants only got to sing half a song. But I finished the song! I sang 《疼憨人》till the end! Wow!!

I really like singing. Be it for a small group of people, indoor stadium sized audience, competition or not, it's still singing. If I'm not conscious of the setting, I will be able enjoy singing.

Yippee!!!! So I'm going to enjoy myself on 28th June (3pm to 6pm), singing my lungs out at Kallang Leisure Park! See you there!!!!

All in all, we aim to have fun, lardeedar~ with all our students. Well, actually we won't call ourselves teachers also lar~ This course is more like a 分享会. We know there are a lot of people out there who love to sing. We would like to share with you how to enjoy singing more and more~

The next big thing is... Lil Nyonya Musical!
And we are in it! whee~

2 days ago, we woke up early in the morning to shoot the TVC. I wonder if it's out yet.



As you would have seen in the drama, all the nyonyas have buns. Hahaha, so the hair stylist had to bun up Diya and my short hair! You cannot imagine how much spray was on us man...



I can't believe they managed to make diya look like this!!!! HAHAHAHAHA! pretty right? Well, she's acting as the "hot favourite" in our Aunty's eyes.



Have you seen the TVC? I can't wait to see it!!! The Baba House is such a beautiful place! With our colorful costumes, and beautiful choreography, I can't wait!

I'm so glad!!!!! The Esplanade show was GOOD and BAD!!!! hahaha! I thought my voice was in a pretty good condition. And i think i did 新不了情 pretty well. *shy*

I thought I would stumble all over my words, coz I have never addressed a big audience alone before!! There's always a host! oh my, i was soooo scared. But I think I did not do as badly as I thought. Definitely not great. I get really nervous when I have to talk (by myself). I was soooo tempted to pull Diya on stage or Peifen to come and host! haha. But ok, i survived! huuhuu~ I totally enjoy singing more than hosting! phew~ like what Xing Ang said, I am more myself and more 放 when I'm singing.



BUT!

there was a disaster! I tried to squeeze in my own repertoire - 伤痕. That song meant something to me. That was the 1st time I joined a singing competition during my secondary school days, with a pop song. (err... i used to sing 民歌 when i joined those pri school singing competition) And I got 2nd. bleah. But the band didn't know how to play the song. So oh my, it was such a disaster. They played something, I did not recognise it, and i tried to catch it, and i couldnt. I already said I was gonna sing so I can't just "oh aiyah, let's sing another song". So 硬着头皮, I tried to sing along. But it just doesnt work. My mind was in a chaos "怎么办？怎么办？" I said "好吧！那不如我来清唱吧！" But the band played along! And I still don't know what they were playing. Sigh... I had to stop the song prematurely. And move on to the next song.

That was very embarrassing........

I'm still haunted by that performance. *shivers*

Dear all,

If you are free tonight, I would like to invite you to bring your parents to Esplanade. Because I'll be singing 怀旧金曲. From 往事只能回味,千言万语 to 伤痕in the 90s. My parents will be coming too~ heh. And I bet everyone will find the songs familiar, not just our parents. =) If not, you learn something, coz these oldies are ever green, ever nice!

It will start at 8.30pm SHARP! At the Esplanade outdoor stage. There's no need to worry about the road closure due to chingay. If you are driving, just come by from shenton area. You could exit at CTE Havelock road, drive all the way straight until golden shoe, turn left to esplanade drive and turn left into car park. There's no jam what so ever because everyone thinks there's a jam and avoid the roads. heh.

SHA 2008

Did you attend?? Did you tune in??? Did you watch it on TV???
I went to the event. WOO! I think it was a great show! I thought this year had REALLY good performances. For a start, Diya, Wu Jiahui, Fion and Zhengliang kick off the show real well! Although I thought the song could have been a lil longer. Well I was soooo busy shouting that I forgot to take any picture. But if you didn't watch, Diya was REALLY good on stage. She was the most "seh". I've always admired her showmanship. must learn from her...

Then subsequently, many others sang. I thought Wu Jiahui did a superb job. His song, 雖然我願意 is a VERY VERY difficult song to sing. But he did it VERY well that night. Really happy for him that he won the newcomer award. I sincerely believe that with his voice, he will go far. 加油！



My favourite performance has to be MAYDAY!!!! Without fail, they always got me jumping around. I was wearing a glam dress, but I still can't control myself. I just HAVE to stand up and bounce like a 小歌迷 especially when they perform 離開地球表面. It SOOOO good! They are really great fun to watch. And I LOVE their new song!!!!!



My other favourite performance is Eason!!!! He's so 放 on stage. He's so natural and so himself. I really admire performers like that. He immerse himself into his own music.

What a great night. To me, it's not so much, who won what, but it's just a great opportunity to put a bunch of great performers in one night. And this year's award show was a GREAT show thanks to all the 實力派歌手.

Ok, another to report is that I'll be performing at Korean Pop Night 2008. Oh my, for the 1st time, I'm going to sing at the Indoor stadium. I'm actually quite nervous , just thinking about it. Anyway, this concert is a part of the Korea Festival 2008. Several Korean artistes will be coming to Singapore to perform as well, Like Andy and Jun Jin from ShinHwa. I'll be singing 疼傻人. With the Indoor stadium sound system, it should be quite shiok to scream the song out! woo! haha. I'm REALLY looking forward.

3天前，被朋友邀请去看《天长地久演唱会》。这演唱会可厉害了，6位知名艺人一起同台演出，有黎沸辉，孟庭韦，赵咏华，千百惠，潘美辰和伍思凯。从小就喜欢伍思凯，加上演出嘉宾都是唱将型歌手，所以朋友的邀约我一口就答应了。

众多歌手当中，最期待的还是伍思凯。他果然没有让我失望。压轴的他，让全场都high起来。他象个小孩一样在台上蹦蹦跳跳，唱功是无话说的好。实力派歌手真是当之无愧。

那晚，我是带着一种“轻松地去观摩”的心情去看演唱会的。但，我疯掉了！我被迷倒了！我被她blown away。就好像好多年前去看五月天演唱会被他们深深的迷倒一样，我被她迷倒了。

她，就是赵咏华。




她一出场时，掌声感觉上还蛮客气，礼貌的。毕竟，这是她第一次来新加坡。她，很会说话，在台上无比的自在。41岁的她，非常可爱，风趣。对这位陌生的歌手，马上就起了好感。她先唱了几首轻快的曲目，如《只能说遗憾》，《最浪漫的事》和《求婚》。之前，我听过她的《最浪漫的事》和《求婚》（还记得Charlotte 和 he jing唱过《求婚》），所以也就大声的和她一起大合唱。我觉得玩的好开心。观众的掌声是越来越大声。令我感到惊讶的是，她的唱法一点都不会老气，歌声中还带有一点稚气。

“我现在要带来一首非常感性，悲伤的歌曲，所以大家也要平静下来，用心听我唱这一首歌。”

她，唱的歌是《请你放心》。

有观众在过门的时候，“woo”了一下，她就很调皮地“shh”回去。这一“shh”，又把大家惹笑了。

当她一开始唱，第一句，她马上就可以把我们都带入状况了。我完全地被她那感人的声音牵引到故事里。她唱地投入，我听地投入。我落泪了。她唱的每一句都是非常厉害的唱法。她可以在一句里用不同的声音－真假虚实交替地太厉害了，太漂亮了。

她是我的偶像！

她离开舞台的时候，观众都被她败倒了。全场欢呼声，掌声是如雷轰顶的！和她上台时的掌声完全不一样。而且，大家都不顾下一位出场的人，涌到会场外，买她的CD，结果一下就售完了，也是当晚表演者中，唯一CD被扫购一空的歌手。

她，也变成了我学习的目标。

Thank you to all those who came down to my 1st 签唱会 today!!! esp my parents. they are so sweet. they came all the way from JB to support me!

I had fun. it was REALLY challenging to have to sing hokkien song. Somemore, i was told that i need to sing the hokkien song yesterday, one day before the event. err... i tripped over some parts of the lyrics. but i think it was still ok bah... at least i had fun. haha!

哎，最近蛮不顺利的。身体状况一直都不好。

从开始录制《疼傻人》，一直翻翻复复地生病了，康复了，又喉咙痛，然后又咳嗽，就失声。《12莲花》的整个宣传期，我都没有声音唱。又无奈，又生气！去到每个宣传地点，都只能勉强地唱前半段。更精彩的后半段一直都没有办法现场呈现给大家听。ultimate sian...

那么重要的《12莲花》演唱会，我也因为咳嗽，没有完全发挥实力。报章只提到我被头饰和服装困扰！哎，真羡慕文海，被写道“为演唱会加分”。So ONZ!!!! 当然，我是很为文海感到开心的！文海，加油！大家也要继续为他加油！

那天，庆祝新加坡团队凯旋归来，在 Raffles City Shopping Centre，突然间，声音回来了！很开心！真是爽！而且那天刚剪了头发，也把头发染黑了！很开心！我很喜欢！也有很多人说，很喜欢我的新造型。这就要感谢 CLOVER HAIR SALON 了！Raymond 是我从 Superstar 时代就认识了。他是以为talented的发型师，现在自己出来开店，我当然要支持了！所以，请大家也支持这位仁兄。

Anyway, 好景不长，过两天，guess what?

我的眼睛生东西。医生说是感染，好像在眼皮底下生pimple一样。Kaoz.. 我真的是败倒了。老天就是爱作弄我。因为老天疼傻人！我不是傻人！哈哈哈！然后，从昨晚开始，好像又小感冒了。ARGGHHHH!!!! 天啊！明天我还要表演的！

对了，明天的表演。ok...

12 莲花 之 疼憨人篇

Have you watched the news lately?

hehe!

I'm singing the theme song for 12 lotus! And it's a beautiful song.
The song will be played on the radio Yes933 at about 1:10pm. Followed by an interview... Woo! So please glue yourself to the radio from 1pm!

This song is VERY special.

Firstly, Xiao Han the lyricist is a genius! The lyrics is sooo beautiful and emotional. Please pay extra attention to the lyrics and you will find that every line in verses has a number in it, starting from 1 to 12. Because it's 12 lotus! WOWWWWW!!!!

2ndly, the arangement is WOWWWW!!! It's a unique arrangement. Eric used a lot of funny sound in the song. That made this song.... artistic, and not so commercial. Which is something that we are quite worried about.... not so commercial. Hope you will still like the song.

3rdly, Usually a song has 1 emotion. Like say... 触摸, there is 1 single emotion which is 无条件地守护着爱着，爱别人的人。 But in this song, there's a change in emotion, there's a 过程. The song starts off with an acceptance on how 可怜莲花 is. But as she questions 老天 "why??", towards the end, she becomes exasperated and angry. 我用声音把莲花的气愤与不满，毫无保留的撕吼出来。到了最后，我再把情绪收回来，变成一种无奈，“累了”的感觉。

爽!!!

The production for this song was really fun! Funky Monkeys are SUPER FUN to work with! Thank you Eric for writing and arranging such a GREAT song, Xiao Han for such a great lyrics (she deserves best lyrics of the yr award for this man...), And JIM! Jim was my vocal producer. He's really GOOOOOD! I felt like I could trust his directions so much that we finished recording this song in about 3 hours!
